About Us

Hi! I'm Janine, the person behind CHOKKO👋. Just a girl that's always had her eyes on food and a habitual over-order type of person when eating out. 

I've grown up in a family where food has always been at the heart of everything. My family has been rooted in the hospitality industry for many many years, so it was just part of everyday life for me. However, growing up in an Asian household, it was expected of me to graduate high school and go to university and have a "safe and stable" job.

So after university, I started my career as a primary school teacher. For about 8 years it provided me with stability (just what I parents wanted, and me for the most part), but quietly, in the background, there was always something else pulling at me.

CHOKKO is me finally choosing to explore it. I got to a point where I kept thinking, “if not now, then when?” It’s a big leap and probably the biggest risk I’ve taken, but maybe it's time to just go for it and see how it all pans out. 

This is just the beginning. A small step towards building something of my own, something creative, thoughtful, and centred around the joy of sharing food.
